Wirral Fospray Powers Ahead with Solar Panel Expansion to Cut Carbon Emissions

At Wirral Fospray, our commitment to sustainability goes beyond words; it's built into the way we operate. That’s why we’re proud to share an update on our solar energy journey, which continues to grow with the phased integration of new solar panels at our facility.

Phase One: Laying the Foundation for a Greener Future

Our sustainability initiative began with the successful installation of solar panels during the first phase of our project, just over 14 months ago. This initial step allowed us to offset a portion of our electricity consumption and reduce our carbon footprint, while also increasing our energy independence.

Phase One has proven to be a strong foundation, both environmentally and economically. The results reinforced our belief that investing in clean energy is not only the right choice for the planet, but a smart move for our business and our customers.

Phase Two: Expanding Impact in 2025

Building on the success of the first phase, we are now preparing to launch Phase Two of our solar panel expansion in 2025. Once complete, this next phase will bring significant improvements in energy efficiency and emissions reduction.

Most notably, we expect to save in total over both phases approximately 30 tonnes of CO₂ emissions every year; he equivalent to offsetting the carbon footprint of over 65,000 car miles annually and planting over 1,300 mature trees.

This second phase represents a key milestone in our broader goal of reducing our environmental impact and playing an active role in the green industrial future of the UK.

As we move forward, our focus remains on innovation, sustainability, and continuous improvement. We're proud to be taking meaningful steps that align with our values and contribute to a cleaner, more responsible manufacturing industry.
